The "Agents Driving Hybrids" Initiative
Real estate agents making a difference — one mile at a time
As a real estate agent living in Burlington, my biggest carbon footprint comes from my car. And like so many residents here in Vermont, I was inspired to do something about it. I bought a used hybrid SUV, and it occured to me that I could do even more. Thus the "Agents Driving Hybrids" initiative was born: Realtors make a difference by driving hybrids; Real estate buyers can make a difference by choosing to work with Realtors who drive hybrids.
Join the Initiative — Join me and encourage other real estate agents who currently drive gas cars to make an impact by switching to driving a hybrid. Realtors, especially those in rural states like Vermont, spend more time in our cars than most professionals. We might not be able to cut down on our driving, but together, we can lessen the environmental impact of all those miles.
Imagine — if, for example, just 2% of the 20,000 Coldwell Banker agents traded in our SUVs (averaging 15 miles-per-gallon) for a hybrid SUV or sedan (averaging 35 miles-per-gallon), we could collectively save over 8 million gallons of fuel, equaling 264,000 barrels of oil each year and cut our individual carbon footprint by more than half. Now, imagine the impact if 2% of all real estate agents traded in their SUVs!
